Blood Wedding @ LIPA, March 2013

Lorca’s classic play of the 1930s, set in Spain, evokes the heat and passion woven into the fabric of that society. Using music, song and dance as an intrinsic part of the story, Blood Wedding’s poetic ritual conjures the tragedy of one woman, a young bride-to-be, trapped by both expectation and desire.

Blood Wedding was conceived as part of a “Trilogy of Spanish Earth” alongside Yerma and a third play never written owing to Lorca’s
untimely death.
